On Thursday 6th June I'll be setting off from London in 16606 for Belfast, home of the DeLorean DMC-12, where they were all made 40+ years ago. the factory is located to the south of the city in the suburb of Dunmurry. I expect to join other owners en-route to form a convoy as we journey to the ferry terminal in Liverpool.
Below I'll highlight the route I expect to take and reveal the itinerary that uhas been been put together by the fantastic organising team.
Route
I'll join the M25 at Junction 24 and travel west towards junction 21 at which point I'll join the M1. From there I will follow the M1 up to the M6. I’ll take the M6 all the way to the M56, via the M6 Toll to junction 20A from where I will follow the M56 to junction 15 with the M53. Once on the M53 I will continue on until junction 3 where I plan to take the exit in order to fill up with fuel before continuing on to the ferry terminal.
I'll be taking the 22:30 overnight sailing from Birkenhead/Liverpool with Stena Line to Belfast, arriving at 06:30 on Friday 7th June.
Upon disembarkation in Belfast all the DeLoreans will head for the Europa Hotel in the city centre and park up at the adjacent parking where designated spaces have been allocated.
The expected distance driven from home to the Europa hotel is approximately 225 miles.
Itinerary
Friday 7th Event at the Ulster Transport Museum
followed by visit to the Titanic Distillers.
Saturday 8th VIP attendance at the Stormont Classic Car Show
Sunday 9th Visit to former site of DeLorean Motor Cars Ltd factory in Dunmurry and to drive the restored test track.
Return Journey
The test track event at the former factory in Dunmurry, will close by 4pm after which we will head back to the Ferry Terminal in Belfast ready for the 22:30 overnight sailing back to Liverpool, from where the reverse of the outbound journey will be followed back to home.
